The forest fire season is now officially underway in Northwestern Ontario but it will not be business as usual for fire crews.
For the first time in the province, the fire season will be affected by a strike by civil servants.
However, Dryden-area union spokesman Carl Bleich says the workers who are considered essential will be doing work that is deemed critical.
Bleich says the union and workers will decide on a daily basis what they believe needs to be done to ensure the safety of residents.
