Nuclear Repository Update in Ear Falls and Ignace

Two area communities continue to investigate the possibility of becoming a host site for an underground nuclear repository.
About 150-people attended a 3-day open house recently in Ignace and the Nuclear Waste Management Organization says the feedback was mostly positive.
Spokesperson Michael Krizanc says they notified residents that an outside site would be able to handle a repository.
Ignace Council must now decide if it wants to move forward with a feasibility study, which wouldn’t start until next year.
Krizanc notes they also plan to present the results of a pre-feasibility study to Ear Falls residents in early May.
