Number Of Charges Laid In MNRF Blitz

A one day aerial enforcement patrol in the Thunder Bay area has resulted in 16-charges and 21-warnings.

Conservation officers conducted the blitz last Saturday by helicopter.

A total of 45-anglers from Ontario and the U.S. were checked.

Offences included entering a provincial park without a permit, fishing without carrying a license, fishing with too many lines, possessing rainbow smelt for use of bait, and being more than 60-metres from a line.

Officers also patrolled Quetico Provincial Park and charges were laid for angling using a barbed book and not using an artificial lure to angle.

Charges and warnings were also issued for open liquor, insurance violations and failing to wear a helmet while driving a snowmachine.
