NWHU Looking At Child Health Data Gap

Lack of health data on regional children is a concern for the Northwestern Health Unit.

This comes as a report called “Children Count” shows gaps in health data for Ontario’s school aged youth.

Medical Officer of Health Doctor Dr. Kit Young-Hoon mentions the report shows that more health data is needed throughout the region to determine what programs are needed and how important each one is.

Establishing a Provincial task force and strengthening existing surveillance systems are a couple recommendations to solve these gaps.

Other recommendations include advocating for children and youth as well as supporting multi-sectoral collaboration.
