We’ve already had some really chilly days this December and the Northwestern Health Unit wants to make sure you are safe.
The health unit is warning residents about the dangers of frostbite and hypothermia.
Manager of Environmental Health Thomas Nabb says when temperatures outside go below minus 28 degrees Celsius, the risk of a cold-related injury becomes much higher.
Nabb also says to prevent cold-related injuries, dress in layers of warm clothing and ensure you are also wearing a hat, scarf, insulated gloves and waterproof boots.
He also says infants, children, elderly and people with chronic illnesses are among some of the people at greater risks as well.
