It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Allen Albert Potter, on September 21, 2024, at the age of 78. Allen passed away peacefully, surrounded by his lifelong family friend, Carol Popiel, and his loving children.

Born in Dryden, Ontario on May 3, 1946, Allen lived a life devoted to his family, his love of nature and animals, and his passion for baseball. Especially the New York Yankees. Allen was a lifelong fan.
Allen was an avid outdoorsman who loved to spend time fishing. Some of his happiest days were spent guiding on Route Lake, where he shared his knowledge and love of fishing with others. He also had a deep admiration for classic cars and old trucks. Spending countless hours appreciating the beauty and craftsmanship of these timeless machines. In addition to his love of baseball, Allen was also passionate about boxing. He was a great admirer of Muhammad Ali, often watching old fights and quoting the champ’s famous lines. His passion for country music filled his life with joy, and he was a fan of legends like Waylon Jennings, Gordon Lightfoot, Kris Kristofferson, Hank Williams, and Willie Nelson.

Allen spent many happy years with his longtime family friend Carol Popiel, with whom he shared countless memories. Carol remained by his side in the hospital, along with his children until his peaceful passing. His heart swelled with pride for his children, Stacey, Tracey (Neil) Shannon, also known as Bobbi, and Allen, along with Allen’s partners, Joel and Rob. All of whom he loved unconditionally. His devotion to his family extended even further to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.

Allen was predeceased by his father James Potter, his mother Margret Potter (nee Alberts); his brothers Dwayne and Brian Potter; his sister Verna Ewen; sister-in-law Carla Potter, brother-in-law Don Doudiet, brother-in-law Dave Alberts; and his lifelong friend Brad Maggrah.

He is survived by Brad’s wife Kathy, along with his loving siblings; Gladys, Eddie, Betty, Ronald (Susie), Frank (Linda), Darrell, Donna (Bob), and Bobby (Mary Jane). Allen was also a proud grandfather to Ashlee (Peter), Tanisha (Dustin), Todd (Kaitlyn), Jessica, Natalia (Sam), and Kade. As well as a loving great-grandfather to Blake, Thomas, and Jackson.

He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews. His family was the center of his world, and they will miss him dearly.
