Brenda Margarite Broughton

July 26, 1955 – April 18, 2025
Brenda Margarite Broughton (Hamon) passed away shy of her 70th birthday after a valiant battle with cancer. Her best friend and husband, Hugh Broughton, held her hand to the end. They were life and business partners for 47 years.
Heather and her daughter, Heidi and Jennifer and her children, Maxwell, Adele and Freya have many wonderful memories of their Mom and Amma to sustain them during this difficult time. Brenda’s grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Brenda was predeceased by her parents, William (Bill) and Betty Hamon, sister, Debbie (Harvey Labrash), and brother Billy (Erin), and her very best friend, Lori McKenzie. She is survived by many family members and friends who will miss her for all eternity.
It’s hard to imagine a world without her. She was always ready for a debate, unabashedly opinionated, fiercely loyal, and generous to a fault with her time, energy, and resources.
A former member of municipal council for the Twp. Of Ignace, she served on numerous boards and associations. She was a dedicated community volunteer whether in Ignace, Ontario or Westwold, B.C. Everyone knew that things would get done if Brenda was fronting a cause.
Family and friends will have an opportunity to share stories, laugh, and reflect on a life well lived on August 16th, 2025 in Ignace, Ontario. Further details to follow.
“Rest well, Brenda. You’ve earned your peace”
