Carmen Haney
November 19, 1948 – July 11, 2022
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of Carmen Haney (nee Carrier) on Monday July 11, 2022.
Carmen is survived by her children Sherri Mitani (Paul), Darcy Mitani (Erin), brother Steve Carrier (Janie) and her partner, Karl Knudsen. Nanny will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Kaden, Ty, Sam and Maggie and her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Rita and Julius Carrier, brothers Wayne (Debbie) and Leonard (Arlette) and husband Dean Haney.
Carmen was born in Loon Lake, Sask. where she lived until she was five years old. Her family moved to Dryden, and at the age of 17 she left Northwestern Ontario to pursue a hairstyling career in Winnipeg. Returning to Dryden, she married her high school sweetheart, Doug Mitani, started a family and continued hairstyling at the Fashionette Salon and in her home salon. Her warm smile made her a welcoming receptionist at the Dingwall Medical Clinic and at Harleys in the Bakery.
Always ready to help others in need, Carmen’s kind and caring nature touched and nurtured the lives of over 100 foster children in the Dryden area and outlying community. Notably, Dean and Carmen’s home became a safe and loving haven for many children over the years. Carmen’s love for others also extended to animals as evidenced by the many pets she had. She opened her heart and home to all different animals and never turned away a stray that might have been lingering in her yard.
Carmen was an amazing cook and homemaker and could whip up a meal or homemade soup in a matter of minutes from whatever she had in her fridge.
Growing up in sunset country, Carmen spent many summers camping and fishing with family and friends at Blue Lake, Godson and Aaron Park. Carmen and Dean always enjoyed when people would stop by for a coffee and a visit at their seasonal site at the park.
Carmen had a very creative side spending countless hours crafting, painting and antique shopping, always ready to rearrange the furniture in her house with new decorative pieces. She especially loved spending time with her good friends which often included laughter and a glass of wine.
Gone but not forgotten,

We will miss you.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
A Memorial Service will take place Sunday, July 17, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home with Jamie Miller officiating.
Reception to follow.
Interment will take place at a later date.
