Carol McFadden
January 3, 1952 – March 23, 2026
Carol Elisibeth McFadden (née Maggrah) passed away peacefully on March 23, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind a legacy of dedication, love, and adventure.
Born in Dryden, Ontario, to John and Millie Maggrah of Wabigoon, Carol grew up surrounded by family in Northwestern Ontario. After working at Cochrane Dunlop for a few years, she devoted 30 years to the School Board before enjoying a well-earned retirement. She was an avid knitter, often gifting sweaters, afghans, toques, and slippers to friends and family, as well as donating to schools and hospitals. Carol was also a devoted blueberry picker and a proud “4-pailer,” a title she wore with great delight. Every berry she picked went straight to friends and family in her community; she never kept a single one for herself.
Carol had a deep love of travel, especially in her younger years when she travelled across Canada, to Europe, and to England. She passed this on to her daughter, Dana, and cherished the many trips she made with Lloyd to visit while Dana was living abroad, with numerous adventures creating lasting memories for all of them. When asked how she met her husband Lloyd, Carol would simply reply, “I knew him all my life.” He was, in every sense, the love of her life, and by her side for as long as she could remember. Being a grandmother was one of Carol’s greatest joys, and she was a constant, loving presence in the everyday lives of her grandchildren, Sophia and Henry. Her relationship with her son-in-law Zeke was something truly its own, warm and playful and full of easy affection.
Throughout her life, Carol cultivated many strong and close friendships. Her kindness, genuine spirit, and spunk made her a cherished friend to many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 48 years, Lloyd McFadden; daughter Dana (Zeke) Palmer; grandchildren Sophia and Henry; sisters Arlene (Lloyd) Williams, Terri (Ed) Gibbins, and Kay Macneil. Carol was predeceased by her parents, John and Millie Maggrah, and her brothers David Maggrah, Bradley Maggrah, and Joe Cochrane.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Carol’s memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
The family would like to send a very special thank you to Dr. Bester, Dr. Barrie, and the rest of DRHC Staff.
A Private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
