In loving memory of Garry Edwin Gibson, age 72 years.
Garry Gibson (aka “Hoot”) passed away suddenly with his loving family by his side on August 7, 2019 in the Dryden Regional Health Centre.
Garry is survived by his wife Louanne, children Wendy (Guy) Langlais, Marty (Stannis) Gibson, Michele (Brian) Yaroshuk, Sheila Lyle (Darren Sillery) & Jim Lyle. Grandchildren Tyler (Lindsay) Langlais , Andrew Langlais, Anthony Gibson, Allyson Gibson, Cody Montgomery, Megan Sillery, Katelyn Sillery, Jeffrey Lyle, Jayden Lyle, 1 great grandson Theander Langlais, and his brother Murray (Margie) Gibson several nieces & nephews. Garry was predeceased by his parents William & Reta Gibson, brother Brian, sister Heather Lewis & brother-in-law Jim Lewis and close family friend Cob.
Garry was born March 4, 1947 in Fort Frances, Ont. He moved to Dryden and started working for the Trans Canada Pipeline until he retired in 2000. He also worked for B & M Delivery Service, cutting grass at the neighbours & maintenance work at local golf courses. Garry loved projects and was always lending a helping hand to family & friends no matter how difficult the challenge. He took great pride in his grandchildren and was their biggest Cheerleader watching hockey, football & other activities.
Hoot spent many fall weeks hunting with his close friends Charlie, Dave, Al, Brian, Dick, Gary & Kevin. He loved to host Happy Hour & football games at the “Stadium”. Garry was our Captain for many cruises around the Goon on the pontoon boat. He spent many years curling, loved to travel in the winter, golf in the summer, gamble at Fortune Bay and challenge his mind at Sudoku.
Although Garry had a quiet demeanor, when he said something it was always well thought out and insightful. For a man of few words he was always remembered by those who met him for his character, goodwill and bright smile.
We would like to thank Dr. Ayers & the nursing staff at the Dryden Regional Hospital.
His smile and memory will be cherished by family & friends.
A Memorial Funeral Service to Celebrate Garry’s life will be held Tuesday August 13th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #63 with Mardi Plomp officiating. A Private interment will follow in the Dryden Cemetery.
