Gary Tupling
March 1, 1941 to September 9, 2025
Gary Tupling, age 84, of Port Elgin, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lucette; his so Rance; daughter Chantalle; and four grandchildren.
Gary was born and raised in Port Elgin, where he graduated high school and worked in the family paint and sporting goods store. After his father’s passing in 1962, he took over the business and launched a successful paint and contracting company. In 1967, he served as president of the Chamber of Commerce and led Port Elgin’s Centennial celebrations.
Pursuing a career change, Gary graduated with top honours from Sir Sandford Fleming College as a Natural Resource Technician. He went on to serve as a Conservation Officer and later advanced through several senior toles with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, including Fisheries Management Officer, Fish and Wildlife Supervisor (Ottawa and Cambridge Districts) and District Manager in Dryden.
After retiring in 1996, Gary and Lucette returned to Port Elgin to be closer to family.
Passionate outdoorsman, Gary loved hunting, the shooting spots, and being in nature. He is remembered for his dedication to conservation, his leadership, and his deep love for his family and community.
Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Gary’s memory.
