Gladys Houtz

November 18, 1955 – July 14, 2022

The family of Gladys Margaret (Beck) Houtz are saddened to announce her sudden passing at age 66 in Sioux Lookout, Ontario on July 14, 2022.

Gladys was born on November 18, 1955 in Dryden, Ontario to Margaret and Fred Beck. She moved to Sioux Lookout with her family when she was 6 years old. Here, she met the love of her life Tom.

Gladys and Tom were married on January 21, 1972. Gladys was a kind-hearted, hard working, independent woman who put her family first.

She loved her pets and gardening, but nothing more than spending time with her family. She worked at McFee’s Tavern for 27 years, and spent the last 20 years working as a guard with the Ontario Provincial Police. In 2002 she met her partner Les. Together they enjoyed fishing, bingo and spending time with one another.

Gladys is predeceased by her husband Tom, parents Margaret and Fred, siblings Jimmy and Debbie and niece Heidi.

Gladys is survived by her partner Les, children Mona, Chuck (Amy), Tracy (Tony), her grandchildren Jamie (Jessy), Jiboa (Sam), Jordan, Brandon, Alexa, Vander, Remi, great grandchildren Jersey, Jaxson, Bently, Lincoln, Guiseppina, her siblings Vienna (Bob), Leeann (Myron), Doug, Lorie (John) and numerous nephews and nieces.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Sioux Lookout on July 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Muriel Anderson officiating

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gladys’ honour to Sioux Looks Out For Paws through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Avenue, Dryden, ON P8N 2X3
