Glen Harbour
March 19, 1952 – June 13, 2022
The family of Glen Habour is saddened to announce his passing at home with his wife Karen at his side.
Glen was born to George and Anne Harbour in Winnipeg, Manitoba, one of seven children. The family moved to MacIntosh, Ontario when Glen was in high school.
He attended Dryden High for his final two years where he met for the first time “the one” who would later become his wife of 28 years. In 1994 Glen married Karen and became stepfather to two grown children, although if he were here, he would declare they were his own kids and didn’t care what you said about it. Glen loved his family and his friends and was happiest when he could be hosting a big BBQ where he could put his culinary skills to the test.
He bravely tackled some pretty interesting dishes such the infamous “Turducken” and even some signature dishes like his “BBQ Porky-you-likey”.
Glen was a very skilled carpenter and was always happy to lend his muscles and knowledge to a project wholeheartedly. Everything he worked at turned out beautiful, be it a deck, a water feature, or flower beds.
Nothing made him happier than pleasing Karen, and he was a very happy man indeed. Glen was a volunteer with the Dryden Lions Club and together with Karen, could be found helping where needed, you probably had a burger cooked by him at the annual fall fair. Glen and Karen enjoyed the occasional round of golf, were regular curlers for several years, enjoyed singing Karaoke at the Central and dancing the night away at the Legion. They also very much enjoyed and looked forward to getting out fishing and camping at their secret island on Melgund Lake.
Glen and Karen loved camping so much they hitched up the trailer and moved out to BC several years ago and have been in Parksville on Vancouver Island enjoying their little piece of paradise. Glen made their place an ideal gathering spot with his custom deck, cookout shack and of course flower boxes and a water feature making it enjoyable for gathering with friends. He will be missed, until we meet again.
Glen is survived by his wife Karen Harbour (nee Rankin)
Stepdaughter Ricki (David) Ladouceur, grandchildren Alexandra and Andrew Uber
Doug (Bonnie) Durham, grandchildren Jaimie and Tyler Durham
Cremation has taken place and no service will be given as were Glen’s wishes.
