Lori Miles

June 23, 1969 – March 15, 2022

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lori Miles on March 15th, 2022 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Centre at the age of 52 with family by her side.

Lori was born on June 23rd 1969 in Dryden Ontario to Connie Ewen & Tim Miles.

 

Lori helped run the family business, Fin & Feather Resort on Eagle Lake while still in high school. It was there that she met her chauffeur of 37 years Scott McEwan.

 

Lori was proud to be a re-chartering member of the Vermilion Bay Kinettes in 1989. She went to her first meeting and walked out as President. During her first year Scott was injured, causing them to move to Thunder Bay for the next 7 years.

 

While living in Thunder Bay Lori started her career with H&R Block. Once they were able to move back home to Vermilion Bay Lori continued to work with H&R Block and in 2004 she purchased the Dryden Franchise. A few years later she moved into her own building at 25 King Street. She was proud to be on a street of businesses mostly owned and operated by women.

Once back home Lori continued with her Kin Canada Career, holding positions at all 3 levels of the organization, she held every position at Club level, at the District level she held Deputy Governor, Vice Governor twice and was currently serving as Governor for the second time. At the National level she served on the Board of Directors. Lori achieved almost every award available in Kin Canada. She received her Life Membership on October 3rd, 2015 and during that event she was presented with the Lion’s International Hope Medal from the Vermilion Lions Club for her many years of volunteering in our community.

 

In recent years Lori has faced many health battles, she was grateful to the organ donor from who she received a Kidney & Pancreas, this great gift allowed her to live freely again. Throughout her medical battles she had always had the support of her Family, Kin Family as well as her community.

 

Lori was known for her love of family & pets. Lori was proud of her nieces & nephews Dylan & Miranda Kruger, Connor, Levi, & Emma McEwan, Sequoia & Thomas Skene, Jessica & Damian Geiger.

Lori was predeceased by her grandparents Evelyn, Stanley Miles & Bill, Edna Ewen. Her mother Connie Ewen and nephew Damian Geiger.

 

Lori will be forever missed by Scott , father Tim Miles (Shirley), Ma & Pa Judy, Ivan McEwan, sister Debbie Landry (Alain), sister Dana Skene (Gerald), brother Roly Miles (Lidia) brother in law Keith McEwan (Liza) and her nieces & nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on July 23rd, 2022 at the Dryden Fair Grounds. Donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, your local Hospital, Kin Club or Service Club. Please remember to sign your organ donation card.
