May 16, 1946 – March 27, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and a lifetime of cherished memories that we announce the passing of Robert Owen Blair of Oxdrift and Windsor, Ontario.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Rose (Stiem) Blair, his sister Sheila (Blair) Mosley, and his cherished nieces and nephews Krista Mosley, Michael (Farhana) Dulmage, Nicole (Daniel) Douez, Jonathan (Marina) Dulmage, Jocelyn Barbier, and Jarod (Lisa) Barbier.
He was predeceased by his sister Frances Ann Blair and his parents Robert John Blair and Frances Agatha (Dolan) Blair. Robert will be fondly remembered by many great nieces, great nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
For 55 wonderful years Robert shared life with his beloved wife or as he lovingly called her Rosie. Theirs was a love story measured not just in years, but in quiet devotion to one another.
Robert had a heart of gold and hands that were never still. A telecommunications technician by trade, he spent his career across Northwestern Ontario’s Dryden Region. He shared a life enriched by community, connections, and a wide circle of friends. Robert could talk to anyone about anything and was a natural story teller and debater.
When retirement came calling he didn’t slow down. He simply had more time to do what he loved. Robert was a voracious reader and problem solver with an intuitive and inventive mind. He could fix or build just about anything and if he couldn’t, he’d figure it out by Tuesday. Never a day without learning.
His model airplanes and sailboats were crafted with the same care and precision he brought to everything. He was a proud member of the Oxdrift Recreation Committee, Patricia Region Aeromodelers, Dryden/Windsor Yacht Clubs, and the Windsor Model Yacht Club.
Summers found him sailing on Wabigoon, Superior, and the Caribbean. Winters put him on the ski trails he designed and maintained. In between you’d find him in the garden, a farmer at heart, happiest under open skies with dirt under his fingers. He loved the outdoors and wide open spaces.
Robert had a great sense of humour, a generous spirit, and an enduring habit of giving away his things to anyone who needed them, often before they even asked.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation Cardiac Care or Dryden Regional Health Services Foundation.
Visitation will take place on Thursday April 2, 2026 at Victoria Greenlawn Funeral Home (1525 Hwy 3 Oldcastle, ON N0R 1L0) from 11:00am until time of chapel service at 12:00pm.
