It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ron Turcott on July 26th, 2021, with his dear wife by his side.
Ronald Benjamin Turcott was born on August 30th, 1961 in Dryden, Ontario to Gary and Anna (Voth) Turcott. He grew up north of Dryden and then moved to the family farm in Oxdrift in his teens. He started driving at a very young age and began trucking right after high school. Ron spent his life in the forestry industry working for various companies throughout Northwestern Ontario. He particularly enjoyed working for his latest employers, Red Lake Home Hardware and Barrens Northern Transportation, where he will be greatly missed.
On August 4th, 1990 he married Wendy Martin. They shared 31 years together and built a wonderful family on a strong foundation of love. Wendy and Ron were committed to each other and their greatest joy was raising their children. Ron was so excited to become a grandpa. He adored his grandchildren and never smiled more than when he was around them.
Ron had a passion for the great outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He looked forward to his annual moose hunting weekends with friends in the fall. He valued all of his friendships, many of which spanned decades. Ron will always be remembered for his quick wit, unwavering integrity, and strong work ethic. He was devoted to his family and friends, and showed up to support them, no matter what. He will be forever missed and forever loved.
Ron is survived by his wife, Wendy, and children: Emily (Aaron), Christina (Dan) Hunter, Carrie, Steven Quill, and Jeremiah Bluecoat; his grandchildren: Eric, Alice, Roman, and Leo Sanderson, Lachlan Hunter, and Declan Turcott Dupuis; his mother, Anna; his sister, Kriss Turcott (Kelly Mantik), and sister-in-laws, Joyce Turcott and Heather Turcott. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Gaydonna Baker; brother-in-laws, Dean Martin (Donna Tarantino), Terry (Lindsey) Martin; sister-in-law, Renée (Ken) Martin-Brown; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Ron was predeceased by his father, Gary; brothers, Bruce and Scott Turcott; and fathers-in-law, Glynne Martin and Marlin Baker.
In honouring Ron’s wishes, there will be no service. A private family interment will be held in the fall.
The family wishes to thank Carrie, Dean, Karen, the paramedics, Red Lake OPP, Dr. Whiley, Dr. Molnar, and the staff of the Red Lake Memorial Hospital for their quick response, care, and compassion. We are so thankful for the outpouring of love towards mom and our entire family in our time of grieving.
Should friends so desire, donations can be made Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada through Stevens Funeral Homes, P.O. Box 412, Dryden P8N 2Z1. Condolences may be posted on Stevens Funeral Homes Facebook page or at www.stevensfuneralhomes.ca.
