Stanford George Jensson
January 21, 1935 – June 9, 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of Stan Jensson announce his passing on June 9 2022, at the age of 87.
Stan will be lovingly remembered by his family and many great friends. His wife and best friend of 60 years, Maxine. His children Brent (Charmaine), Donna (Dennis), Dennis (Terri-lin). His grandchildren Jordan, Bradley, Shalene, Kyson, Kasey, Corissa and Sierra. His Siblings, Judy (Gary), Grace and Sister in Law Jenny. Including many close nieces and nephews.
Stan was pre-deceased by his parents George & Stella, his brothers Leslie & Clarence, and his brothers in law George and Roy.
Stan grew up on the Jensson family farm in Rainy River, the oldest of 5 children. It was here that he developed a passion for the outdoors, a love of gardening, carpentry and an interest in machinery.
He caught Maxine Macdonald’s attention as the dapper young man in his fancy 58 Pontiac; a chance meeting at the Red deer lodge sparked a spectacular 60 year marriage.
Stan and Maxine went on to raise 3 children, Brent, Donna and Dennis. They made homes in the logging camps of 314 and Camp Robinson, later settling down in Dryden, Ontario. Raising a family in the bush was hard work, but there was no shortage of fun and memorable moments. Family fishing trips, camping at Sandy Beach, hunting with his sons, and helping with the curling club, Stanford was always there for his family and friends.
Retirement suited Papa and Nannie. With ample energy to keep up with their 7 grand children, the fun continued. Large family dinners, yard games, and a little friendly competition in cards, Papa was there for it all; he never missed a sporting event, tournament or a chance to catch up over a cup of coffee.
Stan’s great sense of adventure led him and Maxine on many wonderful outings. From 3,500km treks to Yuma with the 5th wheel in tow, countless fun filled weekends with the campers association, and even a cruise to Alaska.
With a strong curiosity for how the world works, Stan loved learning. From nature to cars to computers; he always knew what bird was at the feeder, got a kick out of the new vehicles on the lot and could keep up in conversation with his grandkids about the latest technology.
Stanford was a great man, he led a long, amazing life and his memory will live on in the hearts of all those he was close to.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
A Memorial Service will take place on Monday, June 13, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at the First United Church with Alice Bloomfield officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date.
