Willi Gollub
In loving memory of Willi Gollub, age 91, who passed away peacefully with family by his side August 16, 2021.
Willi will be deeply missed by his son Ralph (Annette), daughter Doris (Denis), grandchildren Cody (Sara), Tiffany (Patrick), Logan (Ashley), Lance (Liz) and Olivia (Mike), great grandchildren Sadie, Julie, Charli, Abigail, Lucas, Jaxon, Shawn, Avery and two more on the way. Willi was predeceased by his loving Christa of 61 years in 2018, his parents, brothers, sister and numerous relatives all in Germany.
Willi was born in Koln Germany in November 9, 1929. He came to Canada in 1955 as a diesel mechanic where he worked odd jobs including working for Ontario Hydro during the construction of the Whitedog Generation Station and living in the bush. During this time in Whitedog he sent for the love of his life Christa to come from Germany and they married 2 days after she got off the plane. When construction ended he was fortunate to obtain full time employment with Ontario Hydro and moved to Ear Falls. After retirement in 1993 he remained in Ear Falls until the end.
One of his greatest joys was spending time at his cabin whether it was renovating, planting trees, fishing, hunting and most of all entertaining family and friends at every opportunity he had. He was jack of all trades and always full of ideas and advice. He took great joy in helping anyone and everyone no matter what was brought his way.
Willi was a very kind and thoughtful man who was the main root of our family tree and made every effort in life to put his family first. His face always lit up when surrounded by his grandchildren and great grandchildren, he was our papa and opa (to all) and we are so thankful to him for all he has done for us.
We would like to thank the staff at the Thunder Bay and Dryden Hospital for their compassion and care during his last days.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family celebration will take place at a later date.
