OEB Says More Work Is Needed On Energy East Plan

The Ontario Energy Board is withholding its full endorsement of the Energy East Pipeline Project.

The OEB has released a report based on feedback collected from public consultations earlier this year.

Spokesperson Peter Fraser says there is an imbalance between the economic and environmental impacts on the province.

The report suggests the economic benefits to Ontario will be modest.

It also states Trans-Canada needs to respect treaty and aboriginal rights as it proceeds with Energy East.

Fraser adds there’s still some concerns on critical safety issues and protection devices.

He notes several people and communities support the project and notes work will go on.
