The journey through Northwestern Ontario has ended for a pair of paddlers.
Carrie and Jon Nolan are the first duo to completely travel the Path of the Paddle from Thunder Bay to Manitoba’s Whiteshell Provincial Park.
Carrie, who is also manager of the trail project, says the route comes with it challenges.
She says there are roughly 124 portages on the route, with one spanning 13.7-kilometres.
Carrie calls the entire route is amazing, with beautiful wildlife and scenery.
The 1,100-kilometre route is part of the 24,000-kilometre Trans-Canada Trail.
The two recently arrived at Jessica Lake in Manitoba, but celebrated their successful journey Wednesday in Kenora.
Carrie adds she is working to publish a guide book for the trail.
