If Wednesday night’s pre-season game is in any indication, there will be no shortage of offense for the Dryden Ice Dogs and Fort Frances Lakers this season.
Former Ice Dog Matt Caulfield burned his former team, scoring mid-way through overtime as the Lakers knocked off the Ice Dogs 6-5.
Dryden staked a 2-0 lead in the first period thanks to a short-handed goal from Dallas Crum and a power-play marker from Alex Galbraith.
Both teams then combined for 7-goals in the second period, with Dryden’s Ben McClellan, Jon Mitchell and Connor Foster finding the back of the net.
The Ice Dogs looked like they were going to leave the Memorial Arena with a win, before their hopes were dashed by Michael Jourdain with 42-seconds left in the game.
The Lakers peppered 38-shots on Curtis Barker and Christian Mueller.
Dryden replied with 26-shots.
The Ice Dogs are back on home ice Saturday night against Sioux Lookout.
