Fort Frances Looking for Outside Help for Airport

Fort Frances says it can’t afford to keep paying to run its Airport by itself and will be asking District Municipalities to help foot the bill.
Council has agreed to forward a resolution to the Rainy-River District Municipal Association in time for its next board meeting on September 14th.
Councilor Rick Wiedenhoeft, who brought the resolution forward, says Fort Frances has funded the total operational costs of the Municipal Airport.
Wiedenhoeft notes the net operational cost of running the Airport rose from $94,020 in 2007 to $210,043 in 2009.
The Airport is used mostly by Medevac, which is a service for the whole District.
