Officials Celeberate Official Opening Of New Sewage Treatment Plant

It’s being deemed a high priority for Dryden and it’s being welcomed by government officials on all three levels.

A tour of the new Sewage Treatment Plant was provided last week and officials stressed the state-of-the-art facility has the capacity for future growth in the community.

Water Works Manager Dean Walker says the main highlight is the plant is a LEED’s building, one of the first of its kind in Canada.

Walker says the facility boasts windows designed to maximize daylight to reduce electricity use.

He adds recycled water is used to save natural resources and reduce operating costs.

Walker notes there are still a couple of bugs to fix, but says they are working closely with the contractor to get everything completed.

The plant has been running for more than a year and the Feds and Province both provided nearly $10-million towards the $30-million project.
