Officials Still Have Eye On Water Levels

Emergency officials continue to keep a close eye on the weather and water levels on Rainy Lake and the upper Rainy River.
Levels have been dropping very slowly.
Fort Frances Fire Chief Frank Sheppard says they’re still not in a position to remove any of the sandbags placed to stop rising waters.
Sheppard says there’s also a concern with debris in the lake.
Large chucks of land, or bogs, are breaking free and floating throughout the lake.
Sheppard says if they get stuck at bridges, they can cause problems.
Lake of the Woods in Kenora is also facing a similar situation.
