The labour movement says it’s fighting for the rights and privileges of all Canadians, not just union members.
Chris Buckley is the President of the Ontario Federation of Labour and he says they are continuing to work to improve the lives of not just card carrying members, but non-union members as well.
Buckley says the OFL has been fighting for a higher minimum wage and also an enhanced Canada Pension Plan.
He says another focus has been lobbying for a national pharmacare plan.
Buckley notes 3.5-million Canadians can’t afford their prescriptions and 1 in 10 people aren’t taking their prescribed medication because of the cost.
He stresses the united labour movement is still relevant in this day and age.
