OHC Planning Province Wide Referendum

The Ontario Health Coalition intends to hold a province-wide referendum next month as part of a campaign supporting local hospitals.
Executive Director Natalie Mehra says it’s a response to recent government decisions that will allow for the privatization of certain procedures now offered in hospitals.
Mehra says they plan to hold a voluntary referendum April 5th as part of a campaign denouncing the move.
She notes they are in the process of getting organized in northwestern Ontario.
Mehra says if certain medical procedures are shifted from hospitals to private clinics, patients in northern Ontario would likely be forced to travel out of town more often for treatment.
