A night of celebration for members of the Dryden Eagles High School Football family.
A year-end banquet was held Sunday night and one of the highlights was the recognition of the ten senior players set to leave the Eagles Football program.
Coach Geoff Zilkalns says their young guys look up to those players.
He notes the Seniors weren’t vocal, but they led with dedication and determination.
Zilkalns adds the way they treat others and their work ethic is an example to follow for all young athletes.
Although the gathering marked the end of the 2016 season, it also acts as a springboard for the 2017 campaign.
Zilkalns believes they will once again be competitive, no matter what division they will be placed in.
It’s not yet known if the Eagles will be moved up to the ‘AA’ division following their Currie Division Championship win and a 10-0 season.
Zilkalns says they are losing a key core of players, especially on the offensive line with three players leaving.
However, he adds the team has a number of young proven athletes that have big game experience.
