Ontario’s Ministry of Finance continues to consult the public and explain planned tax changes for unincorporated areas.
Officials have wrapped up a tour of northern Ontario.
It’s part of the government’s increases to the Provincial Land Tax Reform and that will mean homes located outside municipal boundaries can expect up to a $50 increase in their property taxes.
Ministry Spokesperson Scott Blodgett says this is the first time in over 60-years that PLT rates have been adjusted to increase PLT revenue.
He notes you can go on-line to check how much your bill will be.
The money from PLT taxes goes towards provincial government programs.
