Local fire departments have received assistance to enforce the rules under the Ontario Fire Code.
The province has increased fine amounts and created 41 new ticketable offence fire infractions.
Set fines have gone from $250 to $360.
Dryden Fire Chief Ken Kurz says the new fines relate to smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, door closures, fire extinguishers, as well as required records for fire safety equipment and systems.
