The Ontario Health Coalition is embracing a new report by the Auditor General about the province’s home care system.
Natalie Mehra says changes are long overdue.
Mehra is calling on the Minister of Health to establish a process when deciding future changes.
Mehra says poor home care service is one of the biggest complaints they get and it’s time for an overhaul of Community Care Access Centres.
However, she is worried the provincial government may decide to increase privatization in the home care system, rather than make it a provincially operated system.
The auditors report suggests not enough of the funding the private companies get goes towards actual patient care.
