The Far North Electoral Boundaries Commission is recommending that MPP’s who have to service remote communities should be given a bigger travel budget.
That’s one of the recommendations contained in their final draft report.
Greg Essensa is Ontario’s Chief Electoral Officer and says many of the communities in the northern ridings can only accessed by air., which is a very expensive proposition for MPP’s on a limited budget.
Essensa says they learned during their consultation sessions that some remote communities have never seen their MPP in person because of their remote location.
