The Ontario Legislature has officially adjourned, again, for the Christmas Holidays.
In the final piece of business, Bill-67, back-to-work legislation for Ontario Power Workers, was passed by a vote of 72-35.
The NDP voted against the legislation, while Premier Doug Ford was not on hand for the vote.
Labour Minister Laurie Scott says the move will ensure the lights stay on during the holiday season.
Scott says “It will terminate any strikes or lock-outs between OPG and the Ontario Power Works Union for the current round of bargaining.”
Speaker of the House Ted Arnott suggests it was an historic sitting.
“It is interesting to note this is the first Christmas sitting of the Ontario Legislature since 1869.”
