The Northwestern Health Unit is continuing to fight the
evils of smoking by helping adults quit smoking and
preventing youth from starting.
Tobacco Strategy Manager Jennifer McKibbon says since
the Smoke Free Ontario Act came into effect, they’ve
charged 16 people for selling cigarettes to youth under
the age of 19.

Meanwhile, the health unit has laid it’s first charge
under section 9 of the Ontario Smoke Free Act.
McKibbon says after several warnings they’ve charged
someone for smoking in a workplace.
