It’s been six months since the Smoke Free Ontario Act

has been in place in the province.

The Northwestern Health Unit has laid 16 charges under

section 3, with several stores busted for selling

cigarettes to youth under the age of 19.

Tobacco Strategy Manager Jennifer McKibbon says they’ve

also laid their first charge for smoking in an indoor

workplace or public place.

The local health unit has also been targeting parents

who smoke while their kids are still in the vehicle.
