The fight against human trafficking in Ontario is getting financial support from the province.
The government is providing funding to the Ontario Native Women’s Association to set up five human trafficking liaisons.
Spokesperson Cora-Lee McGuire-Cyrette says services in the northwest will be run out of Thunder Bay.
She says there is the possibility of two liaisons in the community.
McGuire-Cyrette says the move is necessary as Ontario has 65% of all national human trafficking cases.
The cost of the liaisons will be about half a million dollars a year.
