Ontario’s Ombudsman will soon have new powers to investigate all publicly elected boards and offices.
The changes are outlined in Bill 8 which was just passed last month.
Andre Marin says this will allow his office to look into complaints other than just closed meeting violations.
Marin says he would like to work with Closed Meeting Investigators to ensure they are providing better and more consistent reports.
He adds the work of the investigators is often of poor quality.
