Ontario Power Generation and Lac Seul First Nation are celebrating their 5 year partnership.
OPG Spokesperson Mike Martelli says the relationship is the first of its kind and he says it opens the door to other opportunities across the province.
Martelli says the 12MW hydroelectric generating station in Ear Falls provides green energy for Ontario and provides a steady revenue stream for OPG and Lac Seul.
He notes Lac Seul has a 25% equity partnership in the plant.
Lac Seul and the OPG signed the partnership in 2006 and the station started operating in 2009.
Martelli says the partnership provides an example of how First Nation and Metis communities can participate in the energy sector and create jobs.
