OPP Busy in Sioux Lookout

The Mayor of Sioux Lookout says crime and homelessness in the town has reached the point that many locals are afraid to go downtown.
Dennis Leney say crime is increasing and much of it is caused by alcohol abuse.
Addiction councilors say the business of dealing with alcoholism is booming, but there is also an alarming rise in prescription painkiller abuse.
Police have been busy dealing with mischief, drug-related offences, car crashes, missing persons and a sexual assault.
In the first week of December alone, police answered 123 calls and charged 35 people with 58 offences.
