The OPP are assisting the Treaty Three Police with a sudden death investigation.
On February 3rd Treaty Three Police responded to an aggravated assault in the Seine River First Nation.
The victim a 42 year old male who was identified as Rudy Whitecrow from Seine River was transported to Thunder Bay for medical assistance.
Earlier this week he succumbed to his injuries.
As a result Treaty Three Police and the OPP North West Region Crime Unit under the direction of Detective Inspector Darryl Sigouin are investigating the circumstances surrounding this death.
The post mortem will take place at the Office of the Chief Coroner in Toronto on Thursday.
