OPP Now Treating April Assault As A Homicide

A 16-year-old Big Trout Lake First Nations boy has sucumbed to his injuries in hospital in Sioux Lookout.

Joshua Nanokeesic was sent to hospital in Thunder Bay after he was attacked on the remote reserve on April 25th.

Provincial Police charged a 19-year-old, 18-year-old and a 17-year-old with aggravated assault.

However, the incident is now being investigated as a homicide under the direction of Detective Inspector Peter Loree of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
