Provincial Police across northwestern Ontario are looking into expanding the use of tasers.
The province announced this week that all front line officers will now be permitted to use the weapons.
Constable Bob Bernie says the OPP will conduct a review of its policies to decide if they will supply tasers to all front-line officers.
Bernie says all officers need to complete training courses and become certified before they can carry a taser.
Bernie adds that tasers can be very effective when used in the proper situations and with the proper training.
