OPP Recognizing Constable Jean Duguay

Provincial Police are recognizing one of their own in northwestern Ontario.

Constable Jean Duguay brought the ‘Stuff a Cruiser’ event to Sioux Lookout in 2008, after noticing that it wasn’t held in the community, as it is in other OPP Detachment areas.

Upon discussing the idea with his partner at the First Step Women’s Shelter, he learned of the Christmas ‘Adopt a Family’ Program that matches sponsors to families in need, and thought the fundraiser would be a good opportunity to supplement the donations to benefit the community.

Duguay has been involved with the initiative since day one, requesting OPP member participation, and ensuring the event is a success.

In the past ten years, it’s estimated that roughly 200-families have benefited from the ‘Stuff a Cruiser’ program, with some $15,000 in cash collected.

Anyone interested in making a donation to the Adopt a Family Program is asked to contact Laura Duguay at the First Step Women’s Shelter at 737-1438.
