The Ontario Provincial Police is reminding riders to exercise caution and follow basic safety rules when operating off-road and all-terrain vehicles.
Investigations this year into ATV collisions show an alarming number of incidents involving impaired driving, high speed and overall carelessness.
Lack of experience and not wearing a helmet are two other issues.
Nine people have already died in off-road vehicle collisions this year, up eight from this time last year.
OPP say operators who don’t wear their helmets are at a much higher risk of serious injury or death.
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs can result in stiff fines, having your license suspended or even jail time.
