The Ontario Provincial Service Employees Union is concerned about government privatization heading into the latest round of contract talks with the province.
Union spokesperson Don Ford says it’s for this reason OPSEU is calling for a strike vote from its members even before their contract expires at the end of the year.
He says with its opening bargaining position the government has thrown down the gauntlet to the 35,000 members who work in the public service and this is their response.
He says the proposals are beyond concessions and are meant to completely dismantle the Ontario public service.
The strike vote will take place December the 3rd to the 5th.
