The CEO of Resolute Forest Products is spending his first of several town hall forums on the Boreal Forest, defending his company’s actions in the aftermath of closing the Fort Frances kraft mill.
Speaking in Thunder Bay Tuesday night, Richard Garneau says he was surprised after the Fort Frances fire department told them they must heat the mill to ensure its fire protection equipment works this winter.
He adds they’ve been more than cooperative with interested buyers for the Fort Frances property.
During the meeting, Garneau also mentioned how environmentalists spread lies about the Thunder Bay mill and how it caused some of their clients to stop buying from the local sawmill.
