OPSEU Gearing Up For Provincial Election

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union says it plans to be very active in the upcoming provincial election campaign.

President Smokey Thomas says while they won’t be endorsing any one party, they will be pushing the four main leaders to oppose the privatization of any more public services.

Thomas says they’ve already met with most of the main party leaders, and is hoping to meet with Doug Ford shortly.

He notes their “We Own It” campaign has more than 57,000 people signed up across Ontario and suggests that’s a large voting block that can make a difference come election day.

Thomas says a recent report from the Auditor General proves that privatizing services like winter road maintenance actually costs the province more and results in poorer road conditions.
