OPSEU Local President Feels Public Being Misled

The Dryden-area union president representing striking civil servants is concerned that residents are being misled by rumours surrounding the seven-day-old walkout.
Dick de Groot feels it is important that facts be told and not rumours so people can make informed decisions about what the issues are in the strike.
de Groot is especially concerned about some rumours indicating the strike will last 12 weeks or longer.
He says such figures are flawed and reports of time frames are nothing but speculation with no basis in fact.
He adds the strike is not only about rebuilding the public service but also about recovering fair wages after years of falling behind the cost of living.
