OPSEU Not In Position To Set Strike Date

The union representing College faculty across Ontario, including those at Confederation College, is still hopeful of reaching a settlement at the bargaining table.

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union has asked for a strike vote in the early part of September.

Spokesperson JP Hornick says its not about going on strike, stressing they aren’t in a position to set a date.

Hornick says the move is all about raising awareness of outstanding issues and opening up dialogue between the two sides.

Key issues include giving staff more say in classroom decision making and protections for contract positions.

She is hoping to make progress during their next bargaining session.
