OPSEU Pushing for No Strike; Supports CT Scan

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union is gearing up for contract talks with the provincial government.
As many as 90 thousand public servants will see their contracts expire at the end of this year.
Smokey Thomas is OPSEU president and he stopped in Dryden Thursday to update local members about the situation.
Thomas says there are no burning issues that should cause public servants to strike, unless the Province changes its course.
Thomas says the two sides will begin talks November 4th, but he doesn’t plan to go to the membership with a strike vote right away.
Meantime, OPSEU Dryden Local 727 donated $3,000 to the CT Scan Unit yesterday.
