Do whatever you have to do to get rid of nuisance deer in the City of Dryden.
That was the main message delivered Wednesday night by the some 100-people who attended a public meeting on the issue.
The option that everyone agreed on was tranqualizing and transporting the deer beyond City limits.
Ministry of Natural Resources Spokesperson Matt Benson says that option can be considered.
Benson notes its important that the MNR works with the City to discuss that solution and other options.
Benson says the deer population is declining but they are receiving more wolf sightings.
The cost and the burden of responsibility were debated and Councilor Mary Trist stated that when it involves the safety of local residents, cost doesn’t always become an issue.
Trist suggested that a Committee should be formed to bring back recommendations to Council.
Live trapping was another option brought up at the fact finding meeting.
A handful of folks wanted a cull within City limits, however safety issues were raised by some in the crowd and among the panel.
